TOPIC 24 – TOYS

Christopher (English US)

Jenny (English US)

  1. How often do you buy a toy?

Actually, I seldom purchase any toys these days because I am an adult and I also don’t have children of my own. But when I was a child, I bought a lot of toys, such as dolls and teddy bears.

So I buy toys, maybe just a couple of times a year.

Last month, I just bought a teddy bear for my niece, Be Kim. When she received my gift, she was ecstatic and happy.

  1. Where is a good place to buy toys?

There are several places to purchase toys online, like in supermarkets or toy stores.

I often buy toys online or in the supermarket because they provide a wide selection at a competitive price.

Like I just mentioned, I bought a gift in the supermarket for my niece. Its price is quite reasonable.

  1. What was your favourite childhood toy, and why?

I had so many toys when I was a child, but what I liked most was a baby doll because it was so cute and beautiful. I made many dresses manually for my doll when I was in primary school.

  1. Do you still have this toy? If not, what happened to it?

Unfortunately, no. I don’t have any dolls anymore. When I was around 15 years old, I gifted it to my cousin because she really liked it.

  1. If you could make any toy, what would you create and why?

Well, actually, I am not good at handicraft. But given a choice, I would make a paper helicopter because it’s quite easy to make. And I believe that anyone can make it.

  1. How have toys changed in the last twenty years?

Toys have changed significantly over time. There are many differences between toys from the past and present.

In the past, toys were usually made from wood, metal, paper, or china, and they were mostly handmade.

Modern toys are usually made from plastic, nylon /ˈnaɪlɑːn/ or foam and are mostly produced in factories.
