What could you recommend for the restaurant to be even better?

ANSWER

Last year, I had a lovely dining experience at a 5-star restaurant called Oriental Pearl, which is in the Landmark building, located in Binh Thanh district. It’s about 10 kilometers from my place.

I had been there with my husband, Mr. Chi Linh. We really didn’t have any chance to go out to enjoy ourselves at any restaurant during the pandemic lockdown. And in order to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, We decided to go to that restaurant. It took me about a month to find this restaurant because there are a variety of restaurants in HCM City to choose from. I did a bit of research online for Oriental Pearl and found the reviews quite great, 4.5 out of 5, The seafood there is really fresh, and their service is excellent.

The restaurant is on the 66th floor of the Landmark Building, the highest building in VN. Because its altitude is really high, there are only seats inside, but we can admire the magnificent view of the city from my seat and the view of the road. And in the evening, with all the lights, it was really impressive and fabulous.

They serve a variety of foods, from Vietnamese food to Chinese food to Western food.

They specialize in seafood buffets, so we can eat whatever we want, and we mostly went for seafood like lobsters, crabs, oysters, shrimp, and some Chinese food like dim sum and beef steak. We ordered two cokes to have a better taste.

I had the opportunity to taste lots of dishes, and so much of the experience was outstanding. The food, the atmosphere, and the beverages were really great. And the staff are really attentive. But it would be better if they could provide their service faster. Because I had to wait about 30 minutes for my drink, it made me uncomfortable at that time. Maybe it was so crowded on the weekends. And of course, it could be cheaper because we paid nearly $200 for that buffet. Which is quite high compared to the citizens’ income in HCM city. But with the quality of service they provide, they couldn’t make it cheaper.

  1. What are the most popular types of restaurants these days?

Based on my observation, the most common restaurants these days are buffet restaurants, which serve mostly seafood at cheaper prices. Near my apartment, there are at least 10 buffet restaurants that specialize in seafood. But their prices are quite cheap because their target customers are students.

  1. Why are these so popular?

In my opinion, there are many reasons

Firstly, people love eating seafood, and they want to eat as much as possible.

Secondly, people want to spend quality time with their friends or their family while eating seafood; this is definitely a great experience for everyone.

  1. What is needed for a restaurant to be successful?

The quality of food is absolutely the top priority for any restaurant. Apart from that, the service is important, like having attentive staff and great views.

  1. How do negative experiences affect a restaurant?

I reckon that poor experiences can cause a restaurant to go out of business. Nowadays, people look for reviews before choosing a restaurant. So any negative comments can make other customers get away from that restaurant and choose other restaurants.

  1. How has technology affected the success or failure of restaurants?

From my point of view, modern technology has a big impact on any restaurant; it can make restaurants successful or bankrupt.

On the one hand, they can use digital menus; they have a QR code at the table to order food faster.

On the other hand,  negative online reviews can cause bankruptcy for any business.

  1. What are the best ways to improve the operations of a business?

The right way to optimize any business is through regular reviews and feedback, so the company can identify any mistakes or problems that must be improved. Therefore, customer feedback is really important.

  1. Who is responsible for improving a business?

It definitely falls to the owner, the management, and the frontline workers. They can know which areas need improvement to provide quality products and services.

  1. What resources are available to help businesses operate well?

I think that there are many resources available for companies to function effectively. Like loans, training, and tax benefits. During the pandemic, our government provided relief funds for companies to survive the hardships.

  1. How can entrepreneurs find resources to improve their businesses?

In my opinion, the best way for any business to grow is to search online and network with others in the industry. It’s wise to get more information from experienced companies that have already gone through the economic crisis.

  1. Are you ready to start a successful business?

There are numerous resources that any firm can take advantage of, like business websites, blogs, apps, or mobile app tools, to provide better services for their customers.
