What is this place?

Where is this place?

Who are the people that go there most? Why?

How does it help people improve their health?

ANSWER

I am living and working in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, one of the largest urban areas in Vietnam. Therefore, it’s not surprising that there are countless sports facilities for me to choose from. However, after going through this topic, City Gym in Van Hanh Mall comes to mind.

This is a really good place to keep fit, and it is located in District 10. It’s not far from my apartment; it’s about 3 km. It’s on the 7th floor of the building.

This is a great place to exercise for people of all ages because it has state-of-the-art fitness equipment like treadmills and a lot of other machines. More importantly, they also provide personal trainers who will help us get used to everything.

It also has many amenities for improving our health, such as a sauna, swimming pool, and massage center.

People can go to this center to build their fitness and improve their physical and mental health as well. By doing exercises like running, doing yoga, doing push-ups, and so on.

But I guess that most of their members are people in their 30s or older. I guess that at least 50% of the members are in their golden years. The members are usually people who have done well in life and can afford to pay for the membership and other amenities.

After a long day at work, it’s really great to get away from stress, unwind, and improve our fitness to have a strong body and mind by doing exercise in this center. So we can work more effectively on a daily basis.

  1. Are you a member of this gym center?

Actually, no. The reason why I know it quite well is because I’m also considering registering to become a member of this center to improve my health. So I looked it up on the internet to know it better.

  1. How do you exercise?

Actually, I also have a treadmill in my house, but I hardly use it because I’m really lazy. And I run 1-2 times a week. I’m working on it by running every day to have better mental wellness.

  1. What are some different places where people can go to feel better physically and mentally?

Aside from gyms or fitness centers, people can go to golf parks, local parks, swimming pools, or gymnasiums to build their mental and physical health.

  1. Which of these places is the cheapest?

In my opinion, the cheapest places are definitely the parks, because they’re absolutely free of charge.

  1. Which of these places is more expensive?

I reckon the more expensive places are golf clubs and fitness gyms. Because they are quite luxurious and they provide various state-of-the-art fitness equipment, their service is really good, but we have to pay for the membership.

  1. What health centers should be government-funded?

From my point of view, hospitals and childcare centers should be sponsored by the government, as everyone has the right to gain access to medical assistance, especially children.

  1. Which ones should be privately operated?

Definitely, golf clubs and other luxury places like fitness gyms should be in private hands because it would be unfair to be funded by the taxpayer’s money.

  1. How have health centers changed in the past twenty years?

There have been many improvements to health facilities, whether they are hospitals or gyms, over the last two decades.

I think that both the equipment and the staff have improved significantly compared to the past because of technology and education or training.

  1. How are they still the same?

I think the basic structure of some facilities is the same. Members and guests should register, and they have to pay for membership.

  1. Many people travel to other countries to improve their health. What are the reasons for this?

I believe there are two major motivators for health tourism: cost and services.

Firstly, some countries provide cheaper services, such as the cost of a dentist in the Philippines, which is ten times cheaper than that in the US.

Secondly, some countries have the best public health care systems, like the US, Singapore, and so on.

  1. Is it good or bad for a country to offer health services to foreign citizens?

From my perspective, it’s not only good to offer medical assistance to non-citizens but also ethical.

The world is a global community. So we shouldn’t create any barriers for anyone around the world.

  1. Can you elaborate on this?

Of course, a child with cancer has to travel to Singapore for some special treatment. He should not be denied his right to life just because he’s a foreign citizen.

If that happened, it would be unethical.

  1. If many people leave the country for healthcare abroad, how does this affect their local health industry?

I think that in the short term, it would have a negative effect on services. But it would mean that there is a fundamental flaw in the local healthcare system.

It is either too expensive or it doesn’t meet people’s needs. So we need to consider any factors that could improve our healthcare system.
