ANSWER
I have to admit to you that I am not really into history because I find it extremely monotonous. I have to remember countless names of historical figures, events, and timelines. Therefore, history has never been my favourite subject, and I don’t know much about historical events. However, after seeint this topic, the Vietnam War from 1954 to 1975 comes to my mind.
The main reason I want to mention the Vietnam War is because it was a prominent milestone marking the independence and sovereignty of Vietnam.
To tell you the truth, I knew about it when I was in middle school and high school. But I was impressed by the way my grandfather told the story. He was a former war veteran, so he understood everything very well. His way of telling stories is very captivating and engaging; it aroused my curiosity as well as interest in the Vietnam War.
I’m eager to find out more about the Vietnam War for a variety of reasons.
First of all, I was extremely taken aback by the fighting spirit of the soldiers as well as the people. At that time, my country was divided into north and south. Transportation and communication were almost impossible, and we lived in poverty. As a result, went through a very miserable period. However, with a strong fighting spirit and the help of our people, we won.
Furthermore, I am extremely curious how our ancestors were able to defeat a well-armed country like America. I think that with perseverance and solidarity, we won this battle.
I consider myself exceedingly fortunate to live in the era of peace, and I am eternally grateful to the military personnel, civilians, and heroes who sacrificed their lives to bring us independence.
Our country holds an annual memorial ceremony on April 30th to honor our veterans and pay homage to their efforts.I think that each of us should have deep knowledge of the history of our country and the sacrifices of our ancestors. and we should study and work hard every day to make the country wealthier and happier every day to pay back what they had sacrificed.

Do you think nowadays children are learning too much about history?
No, I don’t believe so. Despite the fact that there are more resources for learning about history today, such as museums, the internet, and movies youngsters seem to be less keen on studying the past because they are more interested in entertaining themselves than in understanding history.
- Many children tend to get bored with history because of all these dates, time and names to remember, do you agree with that?
Yes, it is not uncommon for some children to get tedious or disinterested in history because of the emphasis on memorizing dates, times, and names. The traditional approach to teaching history often focuses on rote memorization of facts, which can make the subject seem dry and disconnected from their own lives.
In my humble opinion, to make history more engaging and relevant, educators can employ various teaching strategies. These may include incorporating interactive activities, multimedia resources, primary sources, storytelling, and discussions to bring history to life and encourage active participation from students. By focusing on the stories, themes, and connections within history, children can develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the subject.
- Some people tend to go against the idea of learning from past experiences, what about you?
We have various points of view. I believe that learning from past experiences is a fundamental aspect of personal and collective growth. It allows individuals and societies to make informed decisions, avoid repeating past mistakes, and build upon previous successes. Moreover, we can gain a deeper understanding of how societies have evolved, how conflicts have arisen and been resolved, and how ideas and innovations have shaped the world.
- How can people get reliable historical information?
I reckon that humans can obtain trustworthy historical data via publications produced by well-known historians, libraries, and museums. On the Internet today, there are numerous reliable sources that provide historical knowledge.
How do you think famous historical figures can serve as models for young people today?
Renowned figures in history can undoubtedly serve as role models for youngsters today. For example, when adolescents in my nation learn about sacrifice and courage, Vo Thi Sau is unquestionably the first person who comes to mind. Because she sacrificed her life for our peace when she was only 14 years old.
