TOPIC 29 – FAST FOOD
Christopher (English US)
Jenny (English US)
- Do you often have breakfast?
Yeah, every day. Normally, I eat a bowl of cereal with milk/ most often because it is easy to digest. Sometimes I eat banh mi or pho to make something new for the day.
My brain can’t function properly without breakfast. I can’t focus on my work when I’m hungry. In fact, I usually have a light breakfast when I wake up. I don’t know how people live without breakfast.
- What kinds of fast food have you tried? [Why/Why not?]
When I was a child, fast foods were not really prevalent, but now there are a variety of fast-food restaurants, so I had many chances to try things like pizza, sandwiches, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, pancakes, muffins, noodles, milkshakes, However, I don’t like eating all of them because they’re not good for my health because they can cause a higher risk of obesity, depression, digestive issues, heart disease and stroke, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and early death.
- Do you ever use a microwave to cook food quickly? [Why/Why not?]
No, but I’m considering buying one because it’s really convenient. It saves a lot of time and energy to cook or reheat food.
- How popular are fast food restaurants where you live? [Why/Why not?]
As I live in the center of HCM city, fast food restaurants are really common, especially among children and teenagers. They are everywhere, just within walking distance.
Especially in the evenings, I see that a variety of fast food restaurants are crowded with many customers.
- Why do so many people love eating fast food?
Fast food is popular because the food is inexpensive, convenient, and tastes good.
I believe they are popular among children and the young generation because they are very fond of sugary and /ˈkæləri/ calorie-packed food items that usually satisfy their taste buds. /ˈteɪst bʌd/Vị giác
- When would you go to a fast-food restaurant? [Why/Why not?]
Answer: I am the kind of person who prefers homemade food these days, but that does not deter or stop me from visiting a nice fast food restaurant once in a while.
I believe I eat at a fast-food restaurant around every 6 months.
So I only go to a fast food restaurant on special occasions, like a birthday party or just a normal gathering with my friends.
- What did you do on the weekend?
As usual, I and my husband enjoy seafood, or Thai Tom Yum, at my home because we are big fans of seafood, so we have it every week. We had a really great time.
Sometimes we go to seafood restaurants to enjoy ourselves.
