Topic 44- Describe a hotel that you know

Topic 44: Describe a hotel that you know.

Part 2

You should say:

where this hotel is

What this hotel looks like

What facilities does this hotel have?

and explain whether you think this is a nice hotel to stay at.

Answer:

I am really into travel, as I consider it a great way for me to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Da Lat is definitely my destination when it comes to traveling. As one of the best-known tourist attractions, it’s not surprising that there are countless accommodations to choose from. However, when I think about this topic, a hotel called Dream House comes to mind.

Dream House is located right in the heart of Dalat, within a 15-minute drive of Tuyen Lam Lake and Datanla Falls. This place is also the top destination with a unique architectural style.

If my memory serves me right, I stayed at this place about 3 years ago when my husband and I were visiting Da Lat City. This is an ideal destination for travelers to reduce stress and refresh their minds  after long days at work. We chose this hotel because it provided complimentary transportation to visit other nearby spots, and its price was quite reasonable.

More importantly, the hotel offers a haven of peace and serenity away from the bustle of the city. It is a two-story house built from glass and timber with an outdoor terrace, where I could sunbathe on a daily basis.

What’s even more noticeable is its infinity swimming pool and the beautiful courtyard flower garden in front of it, which is perfect for someone like me who is passionate about flora and fauna. Just looking at it can help us recharge our batteries.

There is no greater feeling than being able to enjoy the peaceful scene that Dalat has to offer while relaxing in the water and admiring the beauty of various flowers.

Every room in this hotel is elegantly decorated in a classic French design, with many spectacular paintings on the walls. The room we stayed in even overlooked a picturesque lake.

I really loved the experience we had at Dream House. Its beauty and excellent service helped ease our minds and make us enjoy our trip even more. It was truly exhilarating and rewarding.

PART 3

What things are important when people are choosing a hotel?

As far as I am concerned, the location should be the top priority when it comes to choosing a hotel to ensure a comfortable stay.

I would suggest looking for hotels that are centrally located so that you can move around freely and conveniently.

Besides, it is a great idea to check the room rates and read different reviews from experienced travelers.

Why do some people not like staying in hotels?

In my opinion, some people are not fond of staying in hotels for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, maybe they don’t just feel comfortable enough (probably even feel a bit unsafe and scared as opposed to living in a familiar place with familiar people) in such an environment where too many unknown and strange people live.

Another reason could be that they don’t get enough privacy (again, it is “privacy”, not a fear factor) at a hotel, especially when they need to finish some important tasks in an isolated environment.

Do you think staying in a luxury hotel is a waste of money?

Well, I suppose it depends on the travelers’ budget and also which part of the world they are traveling to.

In some Asian countries, we do not have to pay a fortune to stay in a 5-star hotel. Personally, I rarely choose to stay in a luxury hotel, as a normal hotel can accommodate my needs. More importantly, it’s worth spending on other things, such as clothes, food, and so on, instead of paying a large amount of money on a luxury hotel.

Do you think hotel work is a good career for you?

Almost certainly. I think youngsters can have many potential paths to choose from when working in the hospitality industry. They can socialize with people from all walks of life and learn a lot of things under one roof.

How does working in a big hotel compare with working in a small hotel?

Obviously, when working in a big hotel, people may have to face more pressure and responsibility, but of course, the compensation and benefit package will be more generous. However, for those who thrive on variety, working in a small hotel can be a good chance to perform many different roles.

What skills are needed to be a successful hotel manager?

I suppose a successful hotel manager should be a resourceful person who can solve problems quickly and efficiently because they may receive a lot of different requests as well as complaints from guests simultaneously.

In addition, a good manager should be considerate enough to understand the guests’ needs and willingly do their best to support them.
